new! cutler challenge
NEW! The NUT Cutler Challenge is a three round trail running competition designed to test endurance, smart pacing, and the ability to race when it counts. Make the cutoff in each of the first two rounds and earn your spot in the final 5k showdown.
How it works
All competitors start together at 7:15 AM for a scenic and demanding 25K (15.6 mi) loop through North Fork Park and the surrounding Forest Service trails. Finish by 11:45 AM (4.5 hours) and you have earned your spot in round 2.
At 11:45 AM sharp, advancing runners line up again for a completely different 10K (6.4 mi) loop. You must start the 10K loop on time to advance. There are no staggered starts - the sooner you finish, the more time you have to recover before the next round. Runners who finish the 10K within 90 minutes will advance to the final round.
At 1:15 PM, the remaining runners toe the line one last time for a 5K (3.5 mi) finale. Here’s the twist: everything that happened before no longer matters. The final round starts with a clean slate. The first two rounds decide who gets there, but the 5K alone determines the podium.
Three unique courses. Up to 25.5 miles of racing. Save something for the final 5K.

For 3-hour Solo Run headlamps are strongly recommended as the runs start in very low light. Sunrise is at 7:28 AM. Please ensure you bring a reliable headlamp for your first loop.

6 hour Duo Category Details
A duo comprises two people on a team. Teams are either Run teams or Ride teams, there is no mixing and matching.
Duo teams do not ride or run together, but switch off laps, relay-style. One run/rider can complete more than one loop in a row, but loops must be completed individually, while the other team member hangs out at camp, refuels, naps, checks out the festival, etc..
Duo teams will have two of the same participant bib. In addition, they’ll have a bracelet with the timing chip on it that must be handed off to the active racer that is completing a loop at that time. That is essentially your racer baton.
Categories: There are no subcategories below the Duo level this year, all duos are put into either the Run or Ride Category, and will not be separated by Male/Female/Mixed.
